The Hollister Ranch History Book
Its History, Preservation and People

By Nancy Ward

Would you like to know what the Ranch was like in the 1920s and 1930s? Who lived here and what sort of live they had? Where did their children go to school, or how did their families get groceries when the winter rains came and there wasn’t a paved main road to the nearest Vons? What was happening on the Ranch in the 1960s, and who lived in the Hollister House? Who developed the Ranch as it is today?  Do you know about the Chevron Pipeline? The Wood Lawsuit? LNG? Would you like to know how the Cattle Co-Op operates?

If you would like to know these and many other historical facts and stories about the Ranch, then you need a copy of the new HR Conservancy publication Hollister Ranch, Its History, Preservation and People. The book narrates the Ranch history from the Chumash to the present day. It is a hard cover book with over 100 illustrations ~ charts, photographs, maps, and reproductions of 18 paintings of the Ranch done by the Oak Group artists (and two Ranch artists) when the Conservancy Art Shows were held to finance the History Project. Also, there are 15 beautiful line drawings of native wildlife and flora found on the Ranch.
